Hey everyone! I'm a model located in Buffalo and I've worked with many local photographers in the area. I just got back from modeling in Tokyo, Japan and had a great time :)

I'm back now and unfortuanately can't travel around the rest of the summer cause I have to be home for personal family reasons...
My question is is there ANY real work around here?
I just met with exxcel an agnecy in Buffalo and they told me that all of my pictures suck and I need to get new ones and spend like $500 on THEIR photographer. (which is total bull seeing how by book WAS suitable for Tokyo, a major world market) Sounds like a scam to me...
Anyone know of anything around here? How to get promotional, print, or any other type of paid work? Any suggestions would be greatly appreciated!

Can't say that I would be much help since I live in North Carolina now, but that does sound shady from Exxcel. If I remember correctly, I had heard some good things about them in the past. But on the other side I'm glad to hear you had a good time in Tokyo. Those images are great. Especially the second one. Very cool!

I agree, sounds like they are trying to get into your pocket and not deliver. Have you looked in the Toronto area? Seems that they would have more of what you are looking for.

Hi, Michelle,

Welcome back! Reality is that there is very liitle real work in WNY so...I suspect local agencies make their money running classes and peddling photos. As a suggestion, contact TianaModel@hotmail.com. Tia's worked with many of the photographers in Toronto and may be able to point you in the right direction. She's travelling at the moment but checks her mail regularly. Also, contact larisaicious@yahoo.com. Larisa's another talented friend (and model) who has started working as a photographer and is interning at Eye magazine in Toronto (see her posts elsewhere on the board).

Kelly- hey thanks about my pictures! I was sooo excited to get to work with this fashion photographer over there- I liked his work. I remeber talking a bit about the language barrier thing with you before I left... you were right- it was a little difficult but DEFINITELY WORTH the experience. Hope things are go'n well for you in North Carolina!!
Dennis and Andy- that's a really good idea about Toronto! I had never considered Canada before and Toronto's only 2 hours away... I'll definitley check out those contacts you gave me Andy- thanks so much :)
To any other photographers who might need to hire a model.. I'm avalible. Paid work only but my rates will be super reasonable. Also just know that I'm definitely not into the nude and/or real sexually provacative thing... more fashion or artsy stuff...
