Happy Veterans Day? Is that how you would say it?

Postby wnymodels on November 11th, 2006, 3:53 pm

One thing about Veterans Day, it makes it easy to remember my son's birthday... it's today.. ;)

He came home on leave this weekend from the Marines (he's probably expecting a gift or something).

Here are a couple images of him with his fiancé:

He done got all growed up on us.

Who was it that said something like: "Some people spend their whole life wondering if they've made a difference. Marines don't have that problem."

Tell your son we're proud of him.
I have no lid upon my head, but if I did you could look inside and see what's on my mind.

I second that. Thank him for me too. We would not be who we are without men like him. 8)

Where is your son stationed? I've been in Jacksonville, NC for the past 3 years and I am getting to reenlist. How long has he been in?

Cherry Point huh? That is about 20 minutes down the road from me. What is his job?

Aircraft recovery specialist..

He went in to be a fireman - aircraft fire and rescue or something like that but had his MOS changed to Aircraft recovery specialist..

He was originally added to a unit for deployment this March that was short, but they just reassigned him to a new unit and hopefully he now will not be deployed until March of next year instead of this March ;)

That is pretty interesting. The deployment rates are fast these days. We are always rotating in and out. My husband is stationed at Cherry Point. I was there for school about 3 and a half years ago. It's a nice base.

He got married this past January, and was deployed to Iraq in mid February.

Visited him up at Cherry Point for a week just before he was deployed.
