Musecube!! - its a place where photographers, models, artists and performers can post an online portfolio, and discuss/critique work. Of course, like anywhere else, you have the few who just abuse the system. Great place though. I get most of my referrals through them.

Larisa

mines up at Musecube.com/larisa sorry had to throw that in. ;) But yeah, great site.

Does anyone know what script Musecube uses for listing portfolios? Was it a custom script, or did they purchase it?

I'd like something like that here for local models/photographers so they could easily add/mondify their listings.

Thanks,
Aaron

Can't help you out there. Maybe send them an e-mail asking... I'm sure they won't mind revealing their secrets.

Hello Gang:

It 's good to see the board up and running again. I had it on my desktop and clicked it every once in awhile to check for a pulse.

Anyway, I wanted to ad to Keith's list of favourite links. A couple of years ago when I knew the day that I would have to choose DSLR was drawing near, I searched for any and all info I could find comparing the Big 3; Canon, Fuji and Nikon. The fact that already owned 7 Nikon lenses was a consideration, but the 1.5 lens factor messed up my most commonly used focal lengths, 24mm to 105mm, so I didn't feel married to Nikon or Fuji for that matter.

I found Gary Fong's website to be one of the most comprehensive sources of data on digital photography.

His side by side comparison of the Canon 10D & Fuji S2 and most recently the Canon EOS-10D, FUJI S20, FUJI S2, NIKON D2H, NIKON D70 are most informative.

I'm not talking about what html editor, I'm speaking of a perl/cgi/etc script that allows models/photographers to add/edit their information online.

I contacted musecube, and they wrote their own script from scratch.

I've seen a few scripts ranging from $175-400 and up, but I would have to spend alot of time customizing them for this site. I was just hoping they had purchased a script and customized it, rather than built it on their own. I'd hate to shell out the cash only to find that I am unable to customize it the way I need to.

I have some scripts in mind that will allow models and photographers to have their own third level wnymodels domain name... i.e.: http://mrhelper.wnymodels.com but I want everyone to have a template that cannot be modified (accidental or otherwise), one that they simply fill out the info and upload photos. It has to be easy, because I can see way too many support requests happening if it's not. That would defeat the purpose of automating the submissions.

I may have to switch this site over to a dedicated server because of storage/bandwidth issues concerning all of my sites as a whole. But one benefit of this is if I do the third level domains, people can also be set up to have their own wnymodels email address... i.e.: mrhelper@wnymodels.com (I have the ability to do this now, but with a dedicated server, it would be far easier and there would be no limitations on the number of accounts)
