I need help: I want to purchase new lenses for D30 but can not find anything here in Niagara. Can anybody tell me if there are any good photography stores in Niagara Falls, N.Y. or Buffalo N.Y. ???
I would highly recommend B&H Photo in NYC. It's worth the wait for the shipping... prices are always good and if you buy used, you get exactly what they state...
BUT if you want to handle the lenses...
Locally there are two stores... Niagara Falls, NY is Camera Lounge and in Depew (Buffalo) there is Continental Camera.
Rochester I know of only Hahn Graphic...
Both are great shops, and have knowledgeable staff. Ask for Keith at Continental... Bob at Hahn...
Thanks for the info Max, I will check out the two U.S. stores you mentioned. I really didn't want to take a car ride to Henry's but my racing season starts in two weeks so I got to do something quick. Once again thanks.
I agree that B&H (www.bhphotovideo.com) is the one of the best and fairest sources of photo supplies if you know what you want and can live without getting a chance to play with it first.
BEWARE of other NYC-based companies who might advertise low prices as a gimmick to suck you in. Then they try to hassle you to but other stuff or substite grey-market or generic parts.
If you want to do some hands-on shopping, In Rochester...
Rowe Photo & Video - 1737 Mt. Hope Avenue, Rochester, NY. 2 Blocks North from I-390 - www.RowePhoto.com - Decent selection of lenses in stock that you can play with, but the prices are VERY expensive.
Campus Connections - Rochester Institute of Technology Bookstore - Jefferson Road - bookstore.rit.edu - Also has a fair number of lenses in stock that you can try out and play with, prices are a bit better than Rowe, but not as good as B&H. Also a great place for supplies.
If you are interested in Henry's, they have a website as well - http://www.henrys.com. If you email them with what you are looking for, they will look at the used database from all their stores and let you know if they have it. You can also view their website in US$ pricing. If you want to import, check out http://www.cameracanada.com, their prices are much better. I've ordered some Hoya SMC filters from them with no problems, and will hopefully be buying a 10D and a lens before summer.
Thanks for all the help, i found the lens i was looking for and the funny thing about it was that it was from a store right in my own back yard, go figure. Once again thanks for the replys Rick
