Just looking to stimulate conversation from models and photogs.

What websites do you frequent often for posting new images/finding new talent/self promotion? How successfull have they been?

I post here (obviously) as well as have pages on OMP, MM, and MP that I check at least daily as well as some "second tier" places like Model Locate, AllModelZone, Glamour1, Eastern Pro-Am, and OneTalentSource that I check every few days. There are a host of other sites that I check from time to time.

From what I can see OMP is the benchmark in terms of everyone that wants to make a serious go of it must belong to, getting the most offers to work with, etc. On the flip side - there are a lot of fly-by-nighters, people with webcam, cellphone camera, etc posting images and calling themselves professionals and want to get paid. However, MM is free and allows more images to be posted for a more well-rounded showing but is less populated.

By the by, I'm going thru my e-mail addy book, looking for those that used to post here and letting them know that we are trying to revive the place and asking them to come back. I figured if each of us can get two or three people back and they bring 2 to 3 people....we should start seeing more posts very soon. Anyone else have contact info of those that used to come here? New people? Send them here.

Model is Stacy and can be found in the above listed sites under Oswego(13126)

I have tried numerous boards and forums and modeling sites... One could spend an 8 hour work day just keeping up... NONE have brought me any income except for OMP. I am certainly not getting rich off of OMP referalls, but it is my preferred choice. The whole point for me in the sites is to build income generation, not friendships. Most of the sites seem to excel in building friendships... not business.

Of course I have always been a big WNYMODELS supporter and will continue...

So, for me? OMP (3373) and here.

Just another model site amoung the thousands out there... but this one even says "BETA" at the top of the page... I would stick with the well known sites such as ModelMayhem, OMP, MySpace, MuseCube, etc...

I never really understood what "BETA" means, Googles Gmail is also in "BETA" so do you also suggest that I don't use Gmail and stick with hotmail?

:D

Thanks for your comments, I find those other sites you suggest to be slow and difficult to seach for people but they do have their uses.

I like the fact that supermodelme.com is trying to be different from those other sites, maybe that is why it is in "BETA"?

I still like it and have created an account I let you know how it works ...

Ok, Mark wanted to stimulate conversation... so here we go...

supermodelme site has no search capability for local models other than "United States". Searching by COUNTRY is not real helpful to me. How does that help the WNY local model or photographer? At least on the other services you can narrow it down to states, cities, zipcodes, etc. Not to mention travel notices on OMP.

Regarding speed, I am on a cable modem system and OMP was not faster OR slower than supermodelme. Except I had no way of seeing or finding what models where in my area.

Regarding Gmail, it is BETA. I thought I read somewhere that you have to be invited to even get a gmail account? I suggest for models and photographers to use good, solid email services such as hotmail, yahoo or spend the dime and get a private email address. If you are really doing this as a business act like it. That doesn't mean Gmail is bad, it's just not the main stream yet.

I am not saying supermodelme is bad. BUT if you want to be seen, why not go where the majority of models or photographers are? There are so many sites for models/photographers one could spend an 8 hour day just keeping up with them.

Has ANYONE other than "thehotmodel" put a profile on there?

Hotmodel show me the error of my ways! Prove to me it's better, don't just say that it is! Why not start by sharing your profile! Because I couldn't find it!

I use ModelMayhem primarily, though their forum software is really limited. My main showcase is my own site, though I also use DeviantArt alot as well. Most of the other sites...well, either the softwares primitive, the site buggy, or I just can't justify the costs for paid memberships, y'know?
