Although I have never worked, well even met Candi Lynn I have watched her images on OMP. She has come along way and looks better with every photo set... Thanks for sharing with us Tiana... you certainly have a style of your own... and that is meant as a compliment...

I like the sitting image alot, very strong.

I saw this image on OMP and my first thought was that you finally got a "mainstream" image! MEANING, although artsy is fun and good, the money is with the boring normal looks... and you captured Candi Lynn perfectly here... I think this image IS as strong, but different reasons than the couch image. Very good.

well, i think if i remember i started out entirely with mainstream images. i don't think i tried anything particularly interesting until after awhile.
as for what sellls...it depends to whom. i am going for high fashion. the agencies i met with loved the high fashion stuff...if i would have shown them a shot like the one i took of candi on the steps they probably would have rejected me. ultimately it depends upon your audience. personally...i think the image of her on the steps is a little boring, but it serves as a good shot for her book. I feel that if shows her well.
For me, if will never be a money maker.
For her, it might.
;)
Here is another image of her...halfway in between commercial and fashion:

Tia,

Of course I think all of your work is great. You've really impressed me with your versatility. I like the first two images the best because they are different. Your style is a lot different from what you are used to seeing and I that is why it sells so well for you. I notice a lot of similarities in your images between the ones you model and the ones you take. They are a long the same style and that is why you photograph that so well. Your "mainstream" images are good also, but I think your work looks better when it's something a little more edgy and high fashion like you are used to and that more suits your style. I look at the image of Candi Lynn on the steps more as something you'd see in a commercial magazine or a Spiegel catalog or something. Your first two look like something more out of a fashion magazine and I would love to see more of that kind of work from you. I think it's great!

p.s. If you ever want to visit the wonderful warm and beautiful beaches of North Carolina *hint hint* you always have a model here to work with!!!

Ok, I am a little confused... are you saying that fashion photography is not like you would see in catalogs? I really think of fashion and equate it to catalog, newspaper and magazine advertising... and usually most all of those images are your "boring" images because it's about the clothing or hat or whatever... not about an artist's statement...

What do you mean by "high fashion", how is that different?

And lastly I like the general concept and feel of the last image... but I don't like the position of the right arm, it interferes with the subject's face... it a distraction... brought down, makes it more acceptable to my eye... but then what the heck to I know! :D

Max,

What I mean about the catalogs is usually you wouldn't see an image like one of tia's first ones in a clothing catalog. You would expect to see something like that in Vogue, Cosmo or a BeBe add. It's not your typical american eagle, abercrombie modeling image. It's more edgy and not so much of the classical type image you would see.
