... that no one really has interest in this forum anymore? Are we all just too busy? Just don't care? Doesn't offer you anything worthwhile? Let's hear some thoughts about what we could do to make this a lively place of information again... or maybe it's just too late...

Well Andy, our fearless leader, has gone MIA again. He was set to move to Florida late last summer just before the hurricains hit so I hope he's all right.

I think the only way to find out if this place is still viable is to start posting on a regular basis again and see who comes out to play. Lord knows I'm busy on this end but I always check this page once a day as it's still my opening page on the internet. I was seriously considering making a site like this but based in the cny area and would have been open to anyone from Niagara Falls to Albany, NYC to Potsdam, and all places in between. Lack of time was the biggest, and most effective, deterrent.

The only way to get people back is to promote and the best way to promote is to post, critique, and link. If it goes, it goes. If it tanks, then at least it didn't fade into the darkness without an effort.

Mark

I'm from New Hampshire and I've seen more and more forums disappear from lack of use. I think it's a good contact tool, but the ones I saw fail usually have flame wars, but I don't see that here.

I come here to see other photographer's work and style and try to share. I've also seen forums, as well as a few other photo sites, slow down during winter months because of outdoor shooting coming to a stop for bad weather.

I've recently started getting out for more shoots. Shot my first time this year with this young lady. Her name is Jhett and she is from Bow, NH. Just starting out and her OMP is #236309. She is 19 years old and 5 foot tall.

Going out today for a group shoot that's held in Burlington, VT. A group of models and photographer's get together in the city there for new model shoots. It helps build up their portfolios.

Another thing I was thinking of is I had to search to find this forum. How is the word put out for other's to find this place?

Who's Brian? :D Just breakin' yer chops, don't beat me up. :D

Aaron retired to Florida (hehe).

It would be nice to get more people participating besides the moderators and spammers. At least now we have Earl. :) It's kind of a catch22. People don't see any activity for a while so they don't post. If we could get to the point where something is posted at least once a day, it would be a start.

I haven't been all that busy with model's or I'd post some new stuff. If I wanted to embarass myself, I'd post some older stuff.

Maybe we need an old fashioned food fight to get things going. :)

i would love if this site was more active. sometimes i come by and see whats going on, but its not as alive as it was years ago. if we had more critiques that might draw more people in. i know myself i need a critique and it just seems like whenever i posted a picture, i never got anything out of it ... besides max of course. who i appreciate soooo much. but thats just in my opinion... 8)

Ooohh, Mr. Hatch...sometimes you make me angry...so very angry...

Just kidding ;-)

The lady asked for a critique. This is just my opinion, worth exactly 2 cents and I'm sure there are others that would disagree which is well within their rights. Here goes:

Red lingerie - Nice concept but I would watch out for the tight crops. "Amputated" limbs can be a distraction at times. While the missing hands and feet don't bother me too much in this pic, the missing right leg does.

The black and white with 2 other models. Months ago you posted new work of yourself and other models. They were nice but the idea is to promote yourself in your portfolio and, in those images, you were kinda "lost in the crowd." This image employs the multiple model concept but leaves no doubt who the star is. I like this one a lot in terms of concept and pose. I would like to see if your hair can be burned in a little as the light behind it is washing it out a little too much imho.

Black and white solo shot - very nice. If anything perhaps a little burn on the bricks between your head and breasts.

Headshot - Nice. The bit lip brings a little personality into the shot. For an actual portfolio headshot tho you might want to get one without biting your lip. They like them plain and straightforward with a smile.

Swimsuit - To me this reads too bottom heavy. No, that is not a polite way of saying too heavy weight-wise but rather that the emphasis is too much on the butt and below due to the pose. Your upper body is pulled away from the camera and your feet are firmly planted which puts weight on the legs. This all adds to a look that you are a pyramid shape. I am also bothered by the strip of land that "sticks" into your right side. The chin and shoulder merge. Perhaps the camera should be a little higher to lessen distortion and positioned so that nothing but water is behind you. Pose-wise I would suggest that you don't turn so far away lower body wise from the camera. When you do then you really have to crank around back towards the camera which causes everyone to lean away from the camera.

Again, this is only my ramblings and not meant in any way as "slams". Lord knows I have made, and continue to make, mistakes so I am not holding mself up as untouchable.

Please continue to post your work :-) I will post some of mine in the very near future

I was in a studio down in Lawerence, MA today shooting a new model, Catherine. She's from Lawrence and found her very attractive. The only site I've found her on is called Center for New Age Photographers, CFNAP.
